Last updated: 13 September 2026
Who is responsible for your information?
CerebralPalsy.org.uk is operated by Bridge McFarland LLP. Bridge McFarland LLP is the data controller responsible for personal information collected through this website. In this notice, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Bridge McFarland LLP.
We are a limited liability partnership registered in England and Wales under number OC419565. Our registered office is Sibthorp House, 351–355 High Street, Lincoln, LN5 7BN. Our Information Commissioner’s Office registration number is ZA517223.
This notice explains how information is used when you visit CerebralPalsy.org.uk, contact us or submit a link to Your Stories. It should be read alongside Bridge McFarland’s full privacy notice (PDF), which also covers legal services and the firm’s wider activities.
Information you give us
When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, any telephone number you provide, your chosen enquiry topic and your message. If you submit a link to Your Stories, we collect the contact details, page link and message you enter. Form records can also include technical information such as your IP address, the date of submission and the page used to send it.
Please only include information needed to explain your enquiry. You do not need to send detailed medical records through a general website form. If you provide information about someone else, including a child, please make sure you are entitled to share it.
How and why we use your information
We use enquiry details to read and respond to your message, direct it to the appropriate person and keep a record of our response. We use submitted links to review suggestions for the Your Stories directory. Links are reviewed before publication; the contact details entered in the submission form are not displayed in the directory.
Our lawful basis depends on the purpose of the processing. Handling general enquiries and administering the website are part of our legitimate interests in responding to visitors and running our services. Where you ask us to take steps towards providing legal services, processing may be necessary before entering into a contract. We also process information where required by law. Where we rely on consent, we will explain this when collecting the information, and you may withdraw it.
Health information needs additional protection. Where it is necessary for a legal enquiry or matter, Bridge McFarland’s full notice explains the additional conditions that may apply, including explicit consent or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
Sending a website enquiry does not itself sign you up to marketing. If you separately agree to receive marketing, you can change your preferences by emailing info@bmcf.co.uk.
Website operation and cookies
Technical information is processed to deliver and administer the website and its forms. Our display controls also remember preferences on your device. See our Cookies Policy for information about browser storage and how to manage it. Public comments are disabled on this website.
Google Analytics, managed through Google Tag Manager, is planned for this website but is not yet active. Once introduced, it will be used with your consent to understand website use and improve the information we provide. Analytics data will be processed by Google and may be handled outside the UK. Our Cookies Policy explains the planned service; the final settings and consent controls will be confirmed before activation.
Who can receive your information?
Information may be handled by the people responsible for responding to enquiries and by service providers supporting website hosting, maintenance, IT and communications. Bridge McFarland’s full notice explains its requirements for service providers and the circumstances in which information may also be shared with professional advisers, regulators, authorities or other parties involved in a legal matter.
If your enquiry leads to legal advice or instructions, further information may be needed. The firm’s full privacy notice explains how that information is used and shared. It also explains international transfers and the protection measures or legal exceptions relied on where information is processed outside the European Economic Area.
How long information is kept
Bridge McFarland retains personal information for as long as needed for the purpose for which it was collected, including relevant legal, accounting and reporting requirements. The period depends on the information and the reason for keeping it; a website enquiry and a legal case file may have different requirements. You can ask the firm for details of the retention period that applies to your information.
Your rights and privacy questions
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access, correct or erase your information, restrict its use or transfer it to another organisation. You can object to certain processing, including direct marketing, and withdraw consent where it is relied on. Rights and safeguards also apply to significant decisions made solely through automated processing. Some rights are subject to legal conditions or exceptions.
